Ilídio Tavares and Edgar Garcia, founders of the Grupo Tagar, in an interview with “Revista Business Portugal”, discuss the recent acquisition of Cariano, SA, which allows for an expansion of the Group’s response capacity, enhancing assistance and proximity to its customers.
The ‘Grupo TAGAR’ was established in 1980 by Ilídio Tavares and Edgar Garcia and positions itself as a reference in providing self-crane services, truck cranes, lifting platforms, and other large-scale equipment for wind farms and the industry. The group includes companies such as Eurotagar, Idelgrua Ibérica, Gruav, Transtagar, and Intergruas, and operates in various countries in Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
In the current year 2023, the ‘Grupo TAGAR’, a leader and reference in the Portuguese market for crane and self-crane rental, acquired the well-known company CARIANO SA. With over 40 years of experience and located in the Industrial Zone of Barosa in Leiria, CARIANO SA positions itself as a key player with expertise in renting cranes for industrial installations and wind turbine towers, including special transport services. This acquisition aims to strengthen its operational structure.
Thus, the ‘Grupo TAGAR’ now consists of companies across the northern, central, and southern regions of the country, expanding its response capacity and enhancing assistance and proximity to its customers on a national level. Additionally, the experience, motivation, capability, and new ideas from the team of workers at CARIANO SA will be crucial to the organization of the entire group.
In an interview with “Revista Business Portugal”, the partners highlight the importance of the company’s employees—a vast team of experienced professionals, each with several years of experience in the sector. They emphasize the dynamic and specialized nature of the team, which provides clients with solutions where precision, professionalism, and safety are the keywords.
The ‘Grupo TAGAR’ has also acquired new equipment, expected to arrive in January 2024, which are less polluting and safer, optimizing their sustainability goals. This includes cranes with capacities of 60, 70, 150, 230, 650, and 700 tons. Ilídio and Edgar state, ‘We believe in the company, and for this reason, we have already planned significant investments in new equipment that will come in January 2024.’ They emphasize that this approach aims to enhance workplace safety, reduce environmental contamination through more efficient machines, and increase the quality of services provided to their customers.
Simultaneously, the entrepreneurs emphasize that the new investments are focused on making the company more competitive, maintaining the company’s expertise in Portugal, and expanding its horizons. They aim to value their employees and create opportunities for customers.
The integration of the company into the ‘Grupo TAGAR’ means that ‘we are positioned much closer to our customers in the north and south because we have a distribution of equipment throughout Portugal,’ says Ilídio Tavares, emphasizing that CARIANO, SA has a strategic location that, in a way, allows them to achieve economies of scale.
All this effort and investment will provide a more consolidated strength to meet the needs of the national and international markets where the company has also been a reference for several years.
This year, the ‘Grupo TAGAR’ has made a significant investment in the areas of quality, environment, and safety, aiming to improve the quality of its projects in a sustainable and safe manner.
The aim of this ambitious plan is to create a synergy of quality work among all the companies within the Group to meet the needs of customers in various markets quickly and efficiently.
Another goal achieved by the ‘Grupo TAGAR’ with the aim of satisfying its customers.
